Intro

My parents, Joe and Jeanette Henry, and I had just flown out of Ohio's February snow and single digit temperatures. The sun and warmth felt wonderful. This was some cattle pasture on the way to the Hamilton farm in Becanchen which is in the southern portion of the Mexican state of Yucatán. Nice flat valleys, rocky mountains in the distance. The rock is a high calcium limestone. It's very much a karst type topography and there are no surface waterways. All the water drains quickly. February is the dry season, but ithe land really looks scrubby and unproductive.
