Validation!
As a kid, I watched my father and then research director Wilbur Franklin do all kinds of experiments involving GMS and its program of presentation of good nutrition (GMS), lime, and an approach (mindset) that now has been passed on for generations.
I've seen a limestone application gain 40+ bushels to the acre of corn. A GMS application of 3 gallons/acre at planting with corn gain of 49 bushes/acre, and a 2.8 gallon GMS application on hay raise every number on a forage test to an astounding amount.
That said, a new milestone was crossed with 1½ gallons of GMS mixed with 3 1/½ gallons of RO water placed around the seed furrow on winter wheat, which manifested itself over the next 8 months. The background of this snap trial:
My own wheat seed, planted very late in the season as a cover crop to establish a spring planted hay crop. No intent for a production yield.
No added nitrogen, just GMS to support the young hay stand in the wheat-foliage fed in the spring.
The stand went into the winter at about 2 inches tall and nothing was visible where GMS was applied and where it was not.
As soon as the wheat started to green up, the differences started to show (see pictures above). A measured topping of the seed heads (see pictures below) showed the influence of the GMS application visually. A set row length harvested in several locations in both trial areas showed a 40 percent increase (in weight) by the 11½ gallons of row applied GMS eight months earlier!
Growers Mineral Solutions is as much a source of nutrition for biology as it is for the plants. Its unique ability to help fill both needs is why this result occurred. The return on investment of in-row applied GMS blows away anything one could spread in bulk.
If one has not yet outfitted their drill to place GMS at planting, enhanced use of investment money put into plant and soil nutrition has not yet been fully achieved, as this test clearly shows.
