Since 1955, Growers Chemical Corporation has recommended the use of high Ca (calcitic) limestone for producers' operations. Growers Chemical Corporation's experience with high Ca limestone has shown that the fall of the year is an excellent time to spread high Ca limestone. This timing allows for the dissolving of the lime so that the use of the Ca by the soil is very efficient. Any photo that features lime spreading in the fall of the year is a good fit with the Growers Program. The fact that the photo below of a North Dakota operation was taken in the fall of 2017 from a drone only suggests that the Growers Program still works after 63 years of business.
The 2018 Georgia Cotton Production Guide said it best: "The use of calcitic lime is becoming more popular in Georgia every year..."
