GMS Placement for Corn: Yields

Several years ago, some long time GMS users experimented with placing GMS at different positions when planting corn. Placing GMS at different positions when planting corn has become much easier in recent years as the agricultural equipment companies have created various ways for application, such as with in-furrow technology and 2x2 application. As interest grew for using GMS at various positions during planting time, several articles in The Growers Solution discussed the reasoning for these various approaches. The Growers Solution, Spring 2019, Volume 32 Issue 2, and Spring 2022, Volume 35 Issue 2, discussed in full detail the various positions that GMS could be placed at and what the success of each placement could achieve. These discussions concluded that yield data would be helpful to farmers thinking about various placement positions. A summary of test plots is presented in Table1 and Table 2.

WHEN DECIDING GMS PLACEMENT, CNA MAY HELP

The data in Table 1 of the "GMS Placement for Corn: Yields" allows in this issue of The Growers Solution an opportunity to use the Growers Cost and Nutritional Analysis (CNA) worksheets. Table 3 shows the cost and availability of the various application methods in Table 1.

Anyone who wishes to examine the CNA worksheets more closely, please contact your local district representative.
