Dear Valued Customer
The time has finally come!
In our Winter Solution 2024 newsletter, we announced plans to build a new facility with the goal of being fully operational by the end of 2025. While delays in the permitting process shifted our original timeline, we're excited to share that groundbreaking officially took place this August!
This moment has been a long time coming. We've been discussing and planning this project for years. Back in 2018, we conducted a structural inspection of our current 120-year-old facility. The results showed we could safely continue operations for about 5-10 more years without major renovations.
In 2020, the Bobel family made the decision to ensure that Growers can continue delivering high-quality fertilizer to our customers for generations to come. We knew the best way to do that was to invest in a new facility-one that supports production efficiency, reduces hard labor, and provides a safe, modern work environment for our employees.
In 2022, Matt Schoder and I spent countless hours applying for the USDA'S Fertilizer Production Expansion Program grant, which was approved in the fall of 2023. Thanks to this support, the project is partially funded by the USDA-ensuring that the construction of this new facility will not impact the price of GMS.
In the winter of 2023, John Byrne joined our team as a project engineer and has taken full leadership of this build. His attention to detail is exceptional and we're confident that the transition between facilities will be as smooth as possible when the time comes.
Our current facility has served us well, but it presents significant challenges and limitations due to its age. This new chapter represents our long-term commitment to you and to the future of agriculture.
Thank you for being part of the Growers family. We truly appreciate your continued trust and partnership.
Warm regards,
Asa Bobel
